Nieves Fernández

Nieves Fernandez-Anez, PhD, is an associate professor at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences since 2018. Before that, she did her PhD at Universidad Politecnica de Madrid and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Imperial College London. Her research interests are focused on the study of flammability and fire behaviour of organic materials, both in their natural form and transformed to reutilise them. As part of this research, the study of biomass safe handling and the spread of fires in northern vegetation are the main developed current lines. Additionally, she is part of the Fire Safety Engineering master, teaching Industrial Fire Safety.
